The jagged, crunchy, southern rock groove in Blessed Avalanche speaks eloquently about not carrying sh*t around and trying to be strong when you really need to put stuff down. Having worked in restaurants, I know how oddly satisfying the sound of breaking dishes can be, and it seemed an apt and amusing metaphor for what happens when it all gets to be a bit too much and then comes crashing down. This song’s groove reflects one direction my music is going: involving at least one electric guitar and a good overdrive pedal.

Blessed Avalanche is the first pre-release from Martha's new album, Call Out, which drops on Friday, April 21, 2023 followed by an album release show at Art Boutiki Music Hall in San Jose CA on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Details at marthagrovesperry.com.

In addition to songwriting, lead vocals, and writing the harmony vocals, I performed backing vocals on this song. Kenny Schick, my producer, also sang backing vocals and played or programmed all of the instruments. Kenny recorded his parts at Basement3Productions in Nashville, Tennessee, and I recorded my parts in March 2022 with Steven Glaze at ToneFreq Studio in San Jose, California.
