about

So, this song is about … well … sex. As I said to my producer when I sent the song to him, “Yup, Martha finally wrote a song that might actually sell LOL.” I can say that I was very uncomfortable in the process of putting this one together. I was insecure about almost everything. That said, I took heart from the fact that the chorus of this song came nearly fully formed in a dream as well as the verse and bridge melodies, so I kind of felt like I could not ignore it. Major credit goes to Kenny, my producer, whom I asked to “conjure images of long, warm, lazy, sunny Sunday afternoons with the windows open and the breeze blowing the curtains and …” Which he did. Perfectly. It helps when your producer’s main instrument is saxophone. And of course most credit goes to my husband …

lyrics

The kind of man you find and keep
Feeling lucky that I swept him off his feet
He treasures me and every curve
I thought that this was something that I don’t deserve

He such a tender lover
Such a tender lover
There’s something to discover
With such a tender lover

Eyes of blue smiling wide
First time in my life that I don’t have to hide
In his arms murmuring
Sometimes we don’t even have to say a thing

He such a tender lover
Such a tender lover
There’s something to discover
With such a tender lover

He loves me with a romance that yearns
He holds me with a fervor that burns
He thrills me with all that he discerns
Pleasure to uncover

He such a tender lover
Such a tender lover
There’s something to discover
With such a tender lover
